Being the most southern and western state, there are coastal, desert and mountainous regions in this vast territory. While employed with the federal government as in information technology specialist, the 9 months living near the Mohave desert in a small town named China Lake, which was near another even smaller town, Trona.
Traveling across this territory from areas near Palm Springs in the south to Bishop in the north presented an array of vegetation and forestation. The mountain ranges that run throughout the central area of the State offer som e of the most incredible natural environments experienced up until that point in my journeys. Small towns as far north as Cedarville and traveling across the mountain range summits were just as remarkable while traveling to Ashland, Oregon.
I will say, though, after living in that state for the nine months that I did, it is a place I refuse to live again and even boycott when traveling in that region. Each trip taken that requires traveling through there, there is always extra gas cans and food/water containers with me so stopping to spend any money in that state will be nonexistent – or at the very least as minimal as possible. People in that state are plain weird, too, as much as the politics. As in many situations along my journeys, expression is through the art of spending, or more like the art of “not” spending. I am happier giving my money to Nevada and Oregon or some weary traveler from another region.
